"Us" {Tampa, Florida Wedding Photographer}

If you follow me on facebook, you may have seen me announce a blog circle that I am a part of for 2015 called the Twelve by Twelve Project. It is a group of 12 wonderful photographers who are sharing a journey of growth and sharing in 2015. Our first monthly topic is "US." Please join us not only in following each of our blogs, but we would love to have you join in! I can't wait to see the amazing things 2015 brings!

For What Binds Us

There are names for what binds us:

strong forces, weak forces.

Look around, you can see them:

the skin that forms in a half-empty cup,

nails rusting into the places they join,

joints dovetailed on their own weight.

The way things stay so solidly

wherever they've been set down—

and gravity, scientists say, is weak.

And see how the flesh grows back

across a wound, with a great vehemence,

more strong

than the simple, untested surface before.

There's a name for it on horses,

when it comes back darker and raised: proud flesh,

as all flesh,

is proud of its wounds, wears them

as honors given out after battle,

small triumphs pinned to the chest—

And when two people have loved each other

see how it is like a

scar between their bodies,

stronger, darker, and proud;

how the black cord makes of them a single fabric

that nothing can tear or mend.

He got down on one knee.. {Don Cesar Florida Proposal Photographer}

I LOVE shooting proposals! I am excited that more and more guys are calling me to secretly capture their proposals!!

When Chris decided to ask his Danielle to marry him he pulled out all the stops! He hired an amazing sand castle company to come make a custom sand castle on St. Pete Beach behind the Don Cesar! !  How romantic is that?

Danielle was so surprised and you'll be happy to know she said YES!

Personal Post: My brother Andy {Lakeland Senior Photographer}

This is a personal post from me and one I'm excited to share. Meet Andy. He is my little brother who is 19 years old. He this past year graduated from George Jenkins High School in Lakeland. He was born with Down Syndrome and is the sweetest guy you'll ever meet. He and my Dad have had to learn to live life without my mom after her passing a few years ago. Not an easy task as she was the center of their universe. He is now gone on to a technical school and soon will have a job. I'm so proud of you Andy and I know you'll go on to do some amazing things!

The gorgeous Anderson Family {Apollo Beach Family Photographer}

I often say I get really attached to my clients, and its true. But I felt a particular kinship to Julie and her family after I met her for this session. (yes its been almost a year.. I'm a terrible blogger what can I say)

We have so much in common! We have a love for family and friends, put Christ first, homeschool, politics, you name it we agree!

 I loved spending time capturing her family in the comfort of their gorgeous home setting in Apollo Beach. I look forward to many years of watching her gorgeous children grow up.

2014 Holiday Mini Sessions

Tampa Family Holiday Mini sessions Photographer Christmas

Believe it or not, its time to book your Holiday Sessions!

mini sessions will be held at your choice of these locations:

Apollo Beach Preserve

Redington Beach Pier

Florida Southern College Lakeland

University of Tampa

The Grotto San Antonio

USF Campus

Each session will result in 20-30  images for you to proof to select your favorites.

All sessions also include a 30 minute shooting session, 10 edited digital files via download, one 11x14 fine art print and an online gallery to choose your favorites for your ten files and 11×14 print, and also to order any other prints/products you’d like to order as gifts or for yourself.

Mini sessions are great for a quick shoot to grab a few options for holiday cards and gifts.

These are not full, custom sessions (which are still available throughout the holiday season).

Full sessions result in more options, more time, and more control over your scheduling and location. Mini sessions may not be the right fit for children or babies that are shy and may need more time to warm up and get comfortable in front of the camera.

… not sure what is right for you?

if you have any questions about the differences between full and mini sessions, please ask!

Why a first look? {Davis Island Wedding Photographer}

Some of you are asking "What's a first look?" Basically it's exactly what it sounds like.. Its the first "look" between a bride and groom.  Quite often these days, couples opt for a first look, before their actual ceremony begins.

"Why a first look?" One of the biggest pros to a first look is it takes the pressure off the timeline for the day. Once those first quiet private moments (captured on film from far, far away) are over,  there is time to photograph you as a couple without starring eyes, and impatient guests who are waiting to party with you at your reception!  This also allows for plenty of time for family and bridal party portraits afterwards! Some couples say a first look also helps take away the nervousness and helps them to focus on what's truly important as they walk down that aisle.. their love.  Its also a great idea to have a first look if your ceremony is at sunset, so that your couple portraits (which more often than not are your favorites and most important from the  day) won't be in the dark. A night portrait can be gorgeous and romantic, but you don't want every photo to be taken in the dark.

So how do I feel about first looks?  A first look isn't for everyone. To some couples, tradition is super important, to others, they can't imagine that first moment of seeing each other to be anywhere but on the aisle in front of family and friends. As your wedding photographer, I believe your day is about YOU and not me, so whatever you choose, I am here to capture your day the way you've always imagined it! Give me a call and lets grab a drink and chat!

Clearwater Beach Wedding {Clearwater Beach Wedding Photographer}

Flashes of Hope {Tampa Charity Photographer}

I am privileged to be a part of a fantastic group of people, Flashes of Hope, who photograph cancer patients and their families. In December I was honored to meet so many special families at their Holiday Party. Despite their hurdles, these children and their families were full of smiles and reminded me to be grateful for every moment.

Tanya and Kevin's Sandpearl Destination Wedding {Clearwater Beach Wedding Photographer}

I can finally share these photos with the world. Tanya and Kevin flew down to the beautiful Sandpearl Resort in  Clearwater Beach in November where they met to say "I do," but didn't make it official to friends and family till this month!  Such a super sweet couple! Tanya was so elegant and beautiful and I don't think I ever saw Kevin without a smile on his face. Thank you both for allowing me to be a part of your special day and I wish you many happy years together!

Addis Family {Apollo Beach Family Photographer}

What can I say? There are a few families that I photograph that really hold a part of my heart. This family is one of them.  I was blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the littlest Addis' beautiful home birth and will forever feel like I'm part of their family.  When their extended family came to town, I was so happy they asked me to capture a small taste of the love they all share!! You'd be hard pressed to find a happier bunch! I look forward to the years ahead watching these lovelies grow!

*If your looking for a photographer in the Tampa Bay, Clearwater, Wesley Chapel or surrounding areas, I'd love to photograph your family!

She said "YES" {St. Pete Proposal Photographer}

When Adriano called me and asked me to capture his surprise proposal for his soon to be bride Julianne at the gorgeous Don Cesar on St. Peter beach, I was thrilled!! On top of the fact that they are an adorable couple, it was so special to be allowed to witness such a beautiful moment in their love story. What a special guy Adriano is that he had the foresight to capture this moment eternally through film for them to relive for years to come! I wish them every blessing and lifelong happiness in their upcoming marriage!

Abeda and Michael {Orlando Indian Wedding Photographer)

I was thrilled when Jennifer of Soltren Photography asked me to shoot this gorgeous wedding with her in Orlando, Florida. Abeda was not only a gorgeous bride on the outside, but spending the day watching how much she loves her friends and family really touched me.

The wedding and reception were both  beautifully designed by her friend Farah and she truly put her heart and soul into making every detail gorgeous!

Although many of the customs and traditions of the day were new to me, the love was so familiar. I am so grateful to Abeda and Michael for allowing me to be a part of their wedding day.

8 Questions You Must Ask a Wedding Professional Before Booking Them

8 Questions You Must Ask a Wedding Professional Before Booking Them

Hiring the right team is critical to planning your dream wedding…and it can also be quite stressful.

How do you find the right match for you?  How do you know who to trust?  Where do you go for advice?

First of all, this is not an easy task and it’s totally normal for couples to feel overwhelmed, frustrated or confused.

It’s not like you plan a wedding every day!  This is all probably brand new to you, so be patient with yourself.

A few tips to finding the right ones for you…

Do Your Homework.  You’ll get much more out of a meeting or conversation with a wedding professional if you do a little background homework first.

Spend some time on the internet or talking to friends who’ve recently been married.  Find out the average prices in your area and what services are available.  Get an idea of what you like and don’t like.  Wedding websites and chat rooms can be a great resource.  This way when you meet with a wedding professional you’ll be able to ask better questions and have an idea of what to look out for.

Meet With Them.  An in person meeting is the best way to interview a potential wedding vendor.  It lets you get the full experience of their personality, style and professionalism.  If that’s not possible, have a phone conversation.

Ask Questions.  There are no stupid questions!  Make sure you get clear, specific answers to your questions. If you aren't sure what something means, ask them to clarify. Keep asking questions until you completely understand.

If a wedding vendor has a problem with you asking questions, they probably aren’t the one for you.  The best wedding professionals are patient, understanding and take the time to help you make the best choices for your wedding.

Listen.  Don’t just hear the words they say, really listen.  Watch the vendor’s body language.  Are they confident and comfortable with their response?  Do they look and sound nervous?  Do you get a “funny feeling” about them?  Take all the sights, sounds and feelings into account along with their responses; if your gut tells you something isn’t right, it probably isn’t.

Check References.  Portfolios are hand-picked to show off the best work, but they may not represent the “average” wedding performance.  Videos are edited for the optimum presentation.  But real referrals from satisfied clients are hard to fake.

Call up both client and professional references.  Ask questions and use those listening skills.  Even if they give a rave review, you’ll often be able to “read between the lines” if there were any issues or problems.

Ask around and search the internet for reviews.  Check the Better Business Bureau for any outstanding complaints against the business.  Weigh all of this information into your choices.

Here are 8 Must Ask Questions to ask ALL your potential wedding professionals before booking:

How many weddings do you do per year?  How much experience do you have?

This is an extremely important question.  Ideally, your wedding professional should have ample experience specifically with weddings.  Not only will they be more skilled in their craft, this also makes them a valuable source of information and ensures that your wedding day goes smoothly.

How much do you cost?

Price is often relative, especially when you factor in experience, reputation and expert skill.  Generally, the most talented professionals have a higher price tag because they are worth it.

How much is the deposit?

What specifically is included in that cost?

Because packages often vary, it’s likely that you won’t be able to compare one vendor exactly to the next without doing a little figuring.  The lowest cost isn’t necessarily the best deal; some higher quotes include services that you have to pay extra for in other packages.  Make sure you take this into account.

What happens if I cancel?  What happens if you cancel?

Find out if your deposit is refundable under any conditions.  Does the wedding professional have a back up plan if something happens to them?

Do you use a contract?

If the answer is No, RUN!  A contract is designed to protect both you and the wedding professional.  Don’t settle for a verbal agreement that won’t hold up in court.

Are there any additional fees?

Taxes, service charges and travel fees can add up quickly.  Make sure you understand exactly what is included and if there are any other fees you’ll have to pay.  This should be clearly defined in your contract.

Do you carry liability insurance?

The answer you’re looking for here is Yes.  This protects you in case an unfortunate accident should occur on your wedding day.  It’s also a sign that this is a reputable business, since most “fly by night” operations don’t invest in insurance.

If chosen wisely, with the right wedding vendors you get expert help and advice…for free!

Caleigh Sweet 16 {Tampa Teen Photographer}

For Caleigh's 16th birthday her mom hired a fabulous makeup artist Sherry Restifo  to teach the girls how to apply their own makeup. She also invited me over to capture the girls in all their beauty! I had so much fun with these girls! (and their mama's aren't bad either) :)
